About Mike Krupnick

Before I had the words or the education, I knew that I was an architect.  I spent my childhood on the beach, building of sand and driftwood.  On hot summer days, my friends and I would ride our bikes through our suburban neighborhoods of South Florida.  I knew that I could do better.

I started working construction at age 14. I learned commercial construction and how to build with concrete and steel.  I have worked, in the Rocky Mountains, building creative, passionate and environmentally sensitive housing and communities.  I moved to New Mexico to learn about sunlight, shadow, adobe bricks, mud, sacred architecture, how to hand peel & carve logs, to mill rough sawn lumber and how to tell a joke, over lunch of tamales and green chili enchiladas.

I strive for my architecture to be beautiful, sustainable & timeless.  I want to tell a story and honor the privilege of building upon the earth.  I am an architect, because I want to actively contribute in building a better & more beautiful world. I am a weaver of the urban fabric, creating something new or revitalizing the worn out and neglected.  I see immense beauty in the simple and mundane, in the poetry of the sunlight and hidden in the shadows, embracing the sound of the train or the silence of the sunrise.

My work is about making the world a better place. With my whole heart, I embrace the process of dreaming, creating and co-designing . . . together.
